Quin Snyder Atlanta Hawks’ Current Head Coach

Quin Snyder is known as one of the most offensive-minded and tactical coaches in the NBA coaches’ story. He was appointed as the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks on February 26, 2023.

Snyder’s basketball career began as a player in high school life. He was outstanding performances while in college, and his team reached the Final Four in 1986, 1988, and 1989. One of the biggest accomplishments in his playing career, he was selected as a McDonald’s All-American in 1985.

Then in the middle of his graduation, Snyder began his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers in the 1992-1993 season. From 1993 to 1995, Snyder served as an administrative assistant to Duke. After completing his degree in 1995, Snyder became a full-time assistant coach with Duke. During his tenure as an assistant coach, Duke also won the 1994 and 1999 NCAA Tournament championship rounds.

During the 1999 season, he took over as the head coach for the Missouri Tiger. After taking over, he led the Tigers to four consecutive NCAA Tournament berths in 2002. Missouri resigned in 2006. Then in 2007, he has appointed to the head coaching position of the Austin Toros. In his first season, Snyder’s team won the Southwest Division championship and reached the D-League finals. In his second season, he led the Toros to a 32-wins. Then he was nominated for the Dennis Johnson Coach of the Year Award in 2009. After he served as the assistant coach of 4 teams( Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, PBC CSKA Moscow, and Atlanta Hawks ) for 4 consecutive seasons from 2010-2014. This time PBC CSKA Moscow won the Russian Professional Basketball Championship, as well as the VTB United League and the Gomelsky Cup.

Then he was appointed as the head coach of the Utah Jazz on June 6, 2014, where he served for eight years (2014–2022). His 8-year career brought the team a lot of success, and he was a finalist for NBA Coach of the Year, in June 2018. He was named the Western Conference head coach for the 2021 NBA All-Star Game.

Quinn Snyder was born on October 30, 1966, on Mercer Island, Washington. Snyder attended Mercer Island High School and later attended Duke University from 1985-1989. He is currently employed as the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks.
