Mike Budenholzer Milwaukee Bucks’ Present Head Coach

Two-time NBA Coach of the Year and one of the most famous coaches in NBA history, Mike Budenholzer was Appointed head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks on May 17, 2018.

Mike Budenholzer’s basketball career began as a player but he gained more recognition as a coach and included himself in the list of famous basketball coaches. He joined Vejle Basketball Club in the 1993-1994 season and was appointed as the head coach in the youth system of the same club for his outstanding performances. In the 1994–1995 season, he was hired as the team’s video coordinator for the San Antonio Spurs, he served efficiently for 2 years. He was promoted to assistant coach under Gregg Popovich during the 1996–1997 season. He won four NBA championships during his long 17-year career with the Spurs, a major accomplishment of his coaching career.

Then, he left San Antonio at the end of the 2013 season, to begin his new career as the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks. He coached the Atlanta Hawks for 5 years, with great efficiency. One of his major accomplishments with the Atlanta Hawks was being named the recipient of the Red Auerbach Trophy as the 2014–2015 NBA Coach of the Year. He also led the Hawks to a franchise record of 60 wins as well as their deepest playoff run in 48 years. He agreed to part ways with the Hawks on April 25, 2018, and joined the Milwaukee Bucks as head coach on May 17, of the same season.

The Bucks then announced Budenholzer as their head coach in the mid-2018 season, and he was instrumental in leading the Bucks to a 60–22 record in his first season. At the end of the 2019 season, he won the NBA Coach of the Year for the second time in his career. He Led the Bucks to an NBA Championship in the 2021 season, which earned him the 4th championship title.

Coach Mike Budenholzer was born on August 6, 1969, in Holbrook, Arizona. By birth, he was a coach’s child as his father, Vince Budenholzer, was also a basketball coach. He attended Holbrook High School and later attended Pomona College, where he continued to play basketball. After graduating in 1993, Budenholzer moved to Denmark to play basketball for the Vejle Basketball Club, where his prodigious talent led to him being hired as a youth team coach the following season, Recently serving as the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.
